Arcutis Promotes Mas Matsuda to Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer

Arcutis Biotherapeutics is promoting Mas Matsuda, JD, to executive vice president and chief legal officer. Up to now, Matsuda has been the company’s senior vice president and general counsel. Matsuda will also retain the title of corporate secretary, which he has had since coming to Arcutis in January 2022.

In his new roles, according to Arcutis, Matsuda will continue to lead company legal, compliance, and governance strategies.

Arcutis Progresses With Zoryve

Arcutis, a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company with a focus on immuno-dermatology, has received six FDA approvals for its Zoryve (roflumilast). Approved indications for this topical include treatment of atopic dermatitis, plaque psoriasis, and seborrheic dermatitis, in adult and pediatric patients.

Matsuda will oversee commercialization of the Zoryve portfolio, protection of Arcutis intellectual property, and any corporate transactions. He said he anticipates continuing Arcutis’ innovations for patients with immune-mediated skin diseases.

Matsuda Latest in Leadership Shifts

Arcutis last announced a major leadership change in April 2025. At that time, David Topper retired as chief financial officer (CFO), to be succeeded by Latha Vairavan. Vairavan, previously Arcutis’ vice president and controller, assumed the CFO post on May 15, 2025.

Prior to joining Arcutis, Matsuda was senior vice president, general counsel, chief compliance officer, and corporate secretary at Halozyme Therapeutics. Before that, he held several legal positions—including vice president, law, global commercial operations—at Amgen.
